All over the world there's one question that
rings out in the hearts and minds of honest thinking people, and that
question is; "What is my purpose for being on this planet?" Are we
asking the right question? The truth is, "purpose" is a "who I am" and
"why I am" before it's a "what I do".
In 1John 3:8 (b) it says; "For this purpose
the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the
devil." So if you ask most people; "What was Jesus' purpose?" They
might answer; "His purpose was to destroy the works of the devil." Is
that accurate? Do we really think THAT was His
focused purpose? When we read this scripture correctly, we see that the
PURPOSE of Jesus Christ was to be MANIFESTED as the SON of GOD, and
that resulted in destroying the works of the devil.
God ordained purpose always starts with a WHO and a WHY that produces a
WHAT and a WHEN.
Too many people are trying to define
themselves by "what" they do hoping that an accomplishment will reveal
their identity, but when someone gets their worth (well being) out of
an acheivement, they feel worthless if things don't succeed. The
discovery of purpose is a process of discovery based in becoming who
God already says you are and then accomplishments (what we do)
follows.
2Corinthians 5:17 reads; "Therefore, if any
man/woman BE in CHRIST, he is a NEW CREATURE (restored back to the
original pattern, blueprint in God's image): old things are passed
away; beohold, all things are BE-come NEW. New did not just happen, but
NEW was NEW from the beginning as it is the original design. Through
Adam's fall, sin mis-shapened us in iniquity, but it never
designed us, because our original DNA (our path) was set in the IMAGE
of GOD. Jesus manifested purpose, as the Son of God
(revealed God to man) bringing RESTORATION of man to God and
His Kingdom.
Over time, much of the church world has
understandably focused on salvation because it is the first step of
entering into God's Kingdom through Jesus Christ, but often the message
of salvation has been only partially presented as
"what" we've been saved "from" with the promise of a heavenly
home someday. This has resulted in people striving to keep their
salvation to avoid hell and hold their reservation in heaven,
but with no understanding as to their life's purpose in
between. Through time the church world has moved into seasons of
revival, healing, and prosperity (but got focused on the "what" that
happened instead of the "why") and while needs got met,
miracles manifested, and the hurting got healed, the message of
PURPOSE often got lost. These manifestations are
vital but they are a "WHAT" that follows the "WHY" of the revealed
Word. The missing piece has
been the revelation of WHO WE
ARE defined only by PURPOSE.
In this time of growth we see the church,
the Body of Christ moving into maturity with an emphasis on the
discovery of WHO we are as a collective community of citizens in God's
Kingdom. Saints are emerging out into specific spheres of influence as
innovators. It's exciting to see as people go from victims to victors.
Salvation is not only what we we've been
saved "from" but the activated process of PURPOSE here on this earth
we've been destined "to" and now being processed through! The cross
Jesus died on is not the destination, but it is a crossroads that
restored our entrance into God's Kingdom as His citizen and
then Christ's resurrection became ours! There is no such thing
as a "born loser", but our being "born again" restored our true
identity as sheep, servants, sons and saints.
Hebrews 12:13 says; "And make straight paths
for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but
rather let it be healed." In other words, when our feet (goings) get
set back into the path (our God given DNA of purpose), our feet (life
process) is healed.
When we seek first the Kingdom of God (that
constituted us) and His righteousness (process of purpose) all these
things (health, prosperity, and worth) shall be added as a result. Sure
we can "use" our faith for healing and needs, but God actually gave us
the measure of faith for processing our PURPOSE and DESTINY. When we
discover WHO we are and WHY we are here the result will be the
destruction of the works of the devil.
Your PURPOSE is vital. Dr. Myles Munroe is
quoted as saying; "You were sent here by God ON PURPOSE, FOR PURPOSE."
This is why Romans 8:19 says that all creation is waiting on the
manifestation of the sons of God. Vision is the eye of purpose and as
you look into the person of Christ Jesus (the Word) you find YOU. All
the world is waiting for your PURPOSE to be opened and change
the world.
